Poland's economy grew at an impressive average rate of 5.1% between 2003 and 2008 not creating any worrying external imbalances at the same time. Between urban, rural and peripheral areas the economy however developed quite inconsistently. However, Poland's relatively low export dependence and the crisis resistance of domestic demand in connection with the economic leeway for anti-crisis measures made Poland the only EU country that escaped a recession in 2009 and, not least due to its size, a regional stabilizer. Assuming that Poland's economy will recover gradually in the coming quarters, the country still has substantial ground to cover, in particular with respect to modernisation of infrastructure and social welfare systems.

Leasing market

The leasing market is exhibiting high rates of growth, particularly in the sector of mobile investment goods (62% in the first quarter of 2007 compared to 2006). Growth in the real estate leasing market is stable but slower. The economy is growing fast and the macroeconomic indicators are positive. Due to an increasing investment volume, growth in exports, industrial production and consumption, this tendency seems to be of a long-term nature. Foreign investments are recording an upward trend. The continuing fall in the unemployment rate and the inflation rate are also positive signs. This stable growth is confirmed by rating agencies such as Fitch (the Fitch rating with regard to Poland’s foreign currency debt has increased from BBB+ to A-).
